MATTHEW McCARTHY
MATTHEW McCARTHY (Lighting Designer). Matthew joined Blue Man in 1995 when he designed the lighting for the Boston production of Tubes at the Charles Playhouse. In the spring of '96, he designed and supervised the installation of a completely new lighting system for the Astor Place production. In between he designed Willow Cabin's production of A Child's Christmas in Wales. Also with Willow Cabin: The Anatomy of Sound, Goose & Tomtom and Twelfth Night. Most recently he returned from a brief tour of Austria with Zvi Gotheiner & Dancers. Other New York credits include Displaced Persons starring Martha Plimpton and Tim Guinee, MEN: The Musical! directed by Mike Wills, and American Buffalo for the Coyote Theatre Co. He has served as assistant lighting designer for Three Viewings at the Manhattan Theatre Club and for the world premiere of Harvey Milk at the Houston Grand Opera. He received his M.F.A. in design from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
