MARTIN LEVAN
|
MARTIN LEVAN (Sound Designer) began his theatrical career in 1982 with Song & Dance in London. Since then, he and his company Martin Levan Sound Design have been responsible for designing the sound for virtually all of the worldwide productions of Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, Aspects of Love, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, the new Joseph..., Kiss of the Spider Woman, Showboat and Sunset Boulevard. Other shows include Carrie, The Baker's Wife, Blondel, Little Shop of Horrors, Moby Dick and Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind. In 1991 he received the NAACP Award for Best Sound Direction on the L.A. production of The Phantom of the Opera. In 1994 he received the L.A. Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Sound Design and in 1996 was nominated for the Dora Mayor Moore Awards for Outstanding Sound on Sunset Boulevard in Toronto. His recordings include the cast albums for the majority of the above shows, including the Broadway album of Cats which won him a Grammy Award. He and his wife Karen live in Wales and have children Remy, Toby and Kim.
