E. L. DOCTOROW work is published in 30 languages. His novels include — besides Ragtime Homer and Langley, The March, City of God, Welcome to Hard Times, The Book of Daniel, Loon Lake, World’s Fair, Billy Bathgate and The Waterworks. He has published two volumes of short fiction, Sweetland Stories and Lives of the Poets. There have been five film adaptations of his work. Among his honors are the National Book Award, the Pen/Faulkner Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, the William Dean Howells Medal of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the presidentially conferred National Humanities Medal.
