FRED APPLEGATE
FRED APPLEGATE starred in London and on Broadway as Max Bialystock in The Producers and as Max Detweiler in the Broadway revival of The Sound of Music. In L.A., he was Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast. Fred played Franz Liebkind in the first national tour of The Producers and has appeared at the Mark Taper Forum, the Geffen Playhouse, the Old Globe, the St. Louis Rep and the Falcon Theater and was a member of the Resident Acting Company at the Guthrie Theater for three years. On TV, he has starred on “Newhart,” “FM,” “Life…and Stuff,” “Woops!” and “Nine to Five”; recurred on “Cosby,” “Night Court” and “Growing Pains,”; and guest-starred often: more than 150 episodes in all. He has narrated documentaries for National Geographic, the Learning Channel, PBS, Bravo, Disney and A&E. Fred is married to Cherie Sprosty, a Catholic liturgist, and they have three delightful children: Ben, Meredith and Ethan.
