This production is set in 1942, at the time of the Bracero Treaty, which allowed Mexicans farm laborers to work in California -- putting a new layer of meaning on the "American Dream."

Synopsis:
George and Lenny, two migrant workers in Depression-era California, long for a farm and a home of their own. But when they take up work on a California ranch, their dreams — "like the best laid schemes of mice and men" — go tragically awry.
