This wickedly funny and fiercely provocative play about race, real estate, and the volatile values of each won nearly every honor the theatre has to give, including the Olivier Award, the Evening Standard Award, and the Pulitzer Prize.
Synopsis:
A white community in 1950’s Chicago frets about the African-American family about to move in. Fast-forward to the present day, and the same house represents very different demographics. Climbing through the looking-glass of Lorraine Hansberry’s classic A Raisin in the Sun, these contemporary characters explode into caustic comedy to reveal how far our ideas of race and gentrification have changed — or have they?
