Ibsen’s timeless story of corruption and courage will be revived in a powerful new version by David Harrower.
Synopsis:
Written in 1882, En folkefiende is a tale of warring brothers – one the town’s mayor, one its doctor. In the character of Dr Stockmann, Ibsen explores the potential of idealism to slide into self-delusion, and in the Mayor how ambition and opportunism corrupt the political machine. An ironic comedy as well as a drama of social life, it is as fresh and relevant today as when it was first written.
