Rodgers & Hart's On Your Toes, an improbable mix of gangsters, vaudeville and classical ballet, was the first musical to successfully integrate classical dance into the Broadway musical format.
Synopsis:
A hoofer woos a ballerina and winds up dodging gangsters in the climactic "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" ballet. The Rodgers and Hart score includes the standards "It's Got To Be Love," "There's A Small Hotel" and "Glad To Be Unhappy."
