South African director Brett Bailey presents a new production of Verdi's Macbeth, setting Shakespeare's tale of an ambitious soldier amid refugees from the Congo.
One of Shakespeare's great tragedies, Macbeth charts the unseemly lust of overwhelming ambition. In it, Macbeth sells his soul to become king, eventually bringing the terrible consequences of his actions upon himself and his fellow Scots.
