This sung-through piece by Tony-winner Tony Kushner and Jeanine Tesori is a semi-autobiographical tale of a young Jewish boy growing up in the South and the complicated relationship he maintains with his black maid. The production began at the Public Theater where it extended before transferring to Broadway.
