From Judy Garland to Idina Menzel: Broadway's Leading Ladies Get Animated

Have you ever been sitting in a movie theatre watching an animated film, or in front of a television watching a cartoon, and thought to yourself that the voice of that singing cat or chicken or princess sounded strangely familiar?
Just this year, Disney's hit movie "Frozen" featured the vocal talents of Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad and Santino Fontana, and they're just the most recent in a long line of Broadway stars who have lent their voices to animated features. In part one of Playbill's tour through Broadway stars who have been animated, we take a look at the leading ladies, from cats voiced by Judy Garland and Carol Channing, to a chicken with the voice of Audra McDonald.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart.
