Last week, correspondent Ben Rimalower shared a list of his top ten songs penned by Tony Award-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim. We wondered: What are our readers' favorite songs by the legendary songwriter?

* polled our readers via Facebook and Twitter asking them to share their favorite Sondheim tunes and tell us why they made their list.

Here are some reader responses and video.

Jenn Novak: Too many! Although "Being Alive" is just so wrought with emotion, that's probably my favorite. And anything from Follies.
R J Equality Lowe: Just one?!?! Oy! My gut instinct says "Being Alive." It is the perfect character transition song. It starts off with Bobby describing and judging what he thinks marriage is and then halfway through softly transitions into him realizing that he is not only finally ready for but desperately WANTS what he's been running from for so long. Add to that that it has one of the most powerful musically dramatic builds and it becomes a true joy to both hear and perform!
Laura Beth Dailey: "Being Alive" ~ It gets to the heart of life, the desire to love and be loved in return.
@PaolaMF11: "Being Alive." It's so powerful.
@TarrynNSteyn: "Being Alive" the lyrics speak for themselves! Also "No one is alone"
@landon_popadic: "Being Alive" from company b/c it's a song that your audience can connect to and relate to:) It's a perfect finally to the show!!!
Deb Lydon: "Being Alive" I quote lines as to how I feel when I going thru treatment. Throws people off every time and makes me so happy!
@timegoesby57: "Being Alive." It was my first, and you always remember your first.
