A Two-Show Day at Something Rotten! With New "Brother Jeremiah" (and Proud Papa) David Beach
Broadway veteran David Beach recently took over the role of Brother Jeremiah in Something Rotten! He invites us to join him as he balances a busy day preaching puritanical values onstage with his offstage duties as husband and father.
It’s a Saturday 2-show day and nothing says sleeping in like a 7:30 wake-up call from a 7-year-old. I was too tired to focus.
Still can’t focus, but it seems doubtful Sadie can be convinced to go back to sleep.
iPad to the rescue. If weekday mornings are “no-screentime” mornings, we try to make up for lost (screen) time on the weekends.
I try to get back to sleep, but remember I have to play a round of Words With Friends with Carolee Carmello. Sad truth: I later lost this game during the matinee.
Not exactly an omelette, but power breakfast nonetheless. Useless trivia: my favorite mug is a Secret Santa gift from Rachel Coloff during the run of Urinetown, 15 years ago…
Daddy Russell is up and double-checking the itinerary for the day: taking Sadie and two friends to his workplace (Lincoln Center) for a silent disco, to Chelsea Piers for a birthday party, and then meeting up with me between shows.
Thought I was running late, but then I ran into the glamorous Angie Schworer on the subway platform.
Not trying to be anti-social, but wanted to get some reading done for this month’s Something Rotten Book Club. I asked Angie to take the photo, because I never seem to make the instagram cut @hotdudesreading.
Make it to the theater in time and am always greeted warmly by Scott Rippe.
