Ringing in 2016, Siam-Style! Ashley Park Takes Us Behind the Scenes at King and I's Festive New Year's Eve Performance
It's New Years Eve! What a beautiful year this has been with new adventures, new friends, new stories, and getting to call this breathtaking haven my workplace. It's our last show of 2015 and Lincoln Center's revival of The King and I is the only show open on Broadway tonight... WOOOOHOOOO LET'S DO THIS!! Join me as I capture all the fun backstage as we whistle happy tunes, kiss in shadows, annnnd... pop some post-show bubblies! Right now, I'm on my way to our afternoon rehearsal "put-in" for our new Captain Orton!
Analisa, our standby for Anna Leonowens, and Edward shows us that rehearsal hoop skirts are just as fun from all angles.
Rocco Sisto looking dapper in costume for his put-in! He begins performances as our new Captain Orton and Ambassador next week! Welcome to Siam, Rocco!
So happy to spend New Years Eve with these sweet smiles. Watching rehearsal from the house!
Rehearsal put-in perk: getting to see witness moments of the show that we never get to see otherwise.
Dressing room 5 ladies get a nap in before our show and New Years festivities tonight... but looks like they're having a hard time letting go of the last holiday...
Holiday hair trims in the wig room! Fresh shaves for the stage... and the new year!
And while in the wig room... Who wore it better? #MuttonChops
Our fabulous sound crew feeling festive with Abe!
Pin-curled and on the hunt for a midnight kiss... Abe? Sir? I'll call you.
