Production Description
Casting The Medea of Euripides, an ancient Greek tragedy. This play is a violent and epic tale of obsession, breakup and revenge featuring infanticide and dark magic.

-Seeking actors who are interested and comfortable in exploring rage, fear, danger and revenge through acting with verse, classical speech, movement and chanting/singing. The cast will primarily ebb and flow between chorus and principle roles around Medea using tools anchored in devised theater to tell a story as a fluid ensemble creating a physical, psychophysical, and rhythmic nonlinear experience. Experience and openness in different styles of movement, training in classical speech, and physical theater is required for this deconstructed production. This innovative restaging of Medea will embody the following tone and aesthetics: Dystopian, Minimalistic, Tribal, Dark, Raw, Intense, Haunting. Actors must be comfortable wearing colored contact lenses for performances.

-Callbacks and auditions will both involve movement and storytelling through physical expression. Please wear comfortable clothing that you can easily and freely move in. Please do not wear clothing that is overly baggy or loose, as we need to see the lines and shapes of the body clearly. Please mention if you play a musical instrument and bring it to the audition if it is portable.
