DESCRIPTION

The aesthetic beauty of our productions testifies to the fact that Goodspeed Musicals benefits from some of the most talented scenic painters in the country. During this week-long introductory intensive, participants will receive expert instruction of a team of esteemed teaching artists, including current and former Goodspeed Staff, as they learn to create textured surfaces using a variety of scenic painting techniques. They will also begin to master scenic painting skills such as cartooning, color mixing, squaring up, drop layout, and wood graining.

APPLICATION DEADLINES:

  • Final application deadline: 12/4/19
  • Final notification of acceptance: 12/11/19
  • Registration fee due: 12/18/19


TUITION
  • Total tuition: $1,600
  • Deposit due with application: $400
  • Balance of $1,200 due following acceptance

SCHEDULE
The intensive begins the evening of Monday, January 6 and runs daily until Sunday, January 12. Participants should plan to arrive on the Goodspeed campus around 3pm on January 6 and will receive a detailed schedule for each day of the intensive upon acceptance and registration.

LOCATION
The Scenic Painting Intensive takes place on Goodspeed’s campus in East Haddam, Connecticut. Most classes and work sessions will occur in the Stillman Paint Shop, located on Commerce Drive.

HOUSING & TRANSPORTATION

Housing on the Goodspeed campus and transportation from the Old Saybrook, Connecticut train station or Bradley International Airport are included in the registration fee.
