Job Description:
The University at Albany seeks applicants to serve as the Assistant Director of the University's Campus Center. UAlbany's Campus Center is a 75,000 square foot facility that serves 18,000 students and university community members per day, which makes it by far the most visited campus venue, with its 1,500 events annually and daily dining traffic of over 8,000. The Campus Center serves four major functions on the UAlbany campus: Student Center, student services center, conference/event center, and largest campus dining venue. The University at Albany's Campus Center is looking for a candidate with a strong work ethic, good attitude, professional demeanor, can work independently as well as part of a diverse team, and who is looking for a career, not just a job. Successful candidates must display good customer service skills that include good oral and written communication, interpersonal abilities, and the ability to interact in a positive way with a wide variety of clients as well as fellow employees, management, and office personnel. Creating a great customer experience and positive team cohesiveness is imperative to our success.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain standards of cleanliness and presentation. Act as a liaison with Facilities Management to provide functional supervision and coordinate housekeeping, maintenance, and repairs
  • Work with clients on details of their event including ensuring all services are present, proper technology is in place. and the configuration is to their specifications
  • Manage operational and administrative functions to ensure specific projects/goals are delivered efficiently
  • Supervise technical support for the Campus Center's events and meetings. With the Campus Center Management team, provide event planning support for the University Community. Serve as liaison with ITS
  • Communicate daily all audio-visual/tech needs with the student event tech support staff. Schedule appropriate response staff for daily needs
  • Assist in the development of proposals for policy revisions, equipment upgrades, and facility improvements in order to enhance services and functionality of events
  • Have a thorough working knowledge of AV equipment setup, operation, and break-down
  • Should have a flexible work schedule with day, evening, and weekend availability
  • Work with the University Police Department (UPD) and ID Card to ensure building safety and responsible operating practices. Anticipate and plan for crisis prevention, intervention, and emergency response
  • Administer the stewardship responsibilities for student and departmental office assignments, office key or swipe access, and building signage
  • Create and interpret facility operations practices and procedures in an educational environment. Work with students, faculty, staff, and guests to understand needs, assess performance, and continually improve service. Support the concept of sustainability-based practices whenever feasible

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate comprehensive assessment and strategic planning efforts including facility usage, user satisfaction, and student learning outcomes development

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (or significant progress toward achieving it) in student personnel, educational administration, or a closely related field from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization required
  • Minimum of three to five years of audio-visual/tech experience in a college or university or performance/theatrical setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in facility management, staff supervision, audio visual proficiency, and event management
  • Proven success in working with students, faculty, and staff in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in customer service
  • Availability to work occasional night and weekend hours
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population
