The Radio
Black Female, 20-50. Played by three women. Part narrator, part friend, and part subconscious to Caroline and her story.

The Moon
Black Female, 20-50. Part narrator, part friend, and part subconscious to Caroline and her story. A5- B3.

The Bus/The Dryer
Black Male, 20-50. Part narrator, part friend, and part subconscious to Caroline and her story. B5-G3.

Noah Gellman
Caucasian Male, 8-10. The son of Caroline's employer, Stuart Gellman. Shy & forgetful. Looks to Caroline for comfort and distraction. E5-G3

Rose Stopnick Gellman
Caucasian Female, 35-45. An old friend of the Gellman's and Stuart's new wife. She has recently moved to the South. E5-G3.

Stuart Gellman
Caucasian Male, 30-40. Noah's father and Rose's new husband. He is also Caroline's employer. He has trouble connecting to his son and new wife. G5-B3

Emmie Thibodeaux
Black Female, 16-18. Caroline's only daughter and the second of four children. Observant, rebellious, outspoken. F5-F3.

Jackie Thibodeaux
Black Male, 9-12. Caroline's son. Though he is older than Joe, he is more sweet and naïve. D5-A3.

Joe Thibodeaux
Black Male, 8-11. Caroline's son. Though he is the baby of the family, he is outspoken and skeptical. D5-B3.

Dotty Moffett
Black Female, 40’s. Caroline's high-spirited friend and fellow maid. A drinker and smoker, she is routinely admonished by Caroline for her behavior. D5-F3.

Grandma Gellman
Caucasian Female, 55-65. Stuart's mother and Noah's grandmother. She is concerned for her son's melancholy and an admirer of his new wife. E5-G3

Grandpa Gellman
Caucasian Male, 60-70. Stuart's father and Noah's grandfather. He is aloof to the changes occurring in the South. E5-G3.

Mr. Stopnick
Caucasian Male, 60-75. Rose's father from New York City. A politically progressive man with dissenting opinions. E5-F3.

Caroline Thibodeaux
Black Female, 40-50. Works as a maid to the Gellman family. She is a divorcee with four children. Bitter and tired, but devoted. Deeply resistant to change in the world. E5-E3
