Magic is real. One night, on the edge of an uncertain future, Susan stumbles across a world unlike any she's known and finds a strangely familiar face. Is she what her mother has always said she is: a changeling? Infused with traditional folk music and set in the isolated hills of 1890s Appalachia, A Short Life of Trouble follows the diverging paths of three young women, each seeking an identity, a future, and a home to call their own.

Everyday Inferno seeks and strongly encourages diversity of all kinds on and offstage. We are actively seeking a diverse cast for this play and strongly encourage actors of all ethnicities, types, accents, gender presentation, and physical ability to apply for these roles. Where gender is noted in the breakdown, it refers to the gender of the character. While this play tells the stories of Scotch-Irish immigrants to the Appalachian region, it will NOT be cast to reflect these backgrounds.
