The Drama Club NYC will produce an off-Broadway revival of Columbinus by The United States Theater Project written by P.J. Paparelli and Stephen Karam. Directed by company Artistic Director Andrew Benvenuti.
Columbinus, a play sparked by the April 1999 massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., is a meeting of fact and fiction that illuminates the realities of adolescent culture by exploring the events surrounding the shootings. The play weaves together excerpts from discussions with parents, survivors and community leaders in Littleton as well as police evidence to bring to light the dark recesses of American adolescence.
Casting the following:
Actors 18+ to play Male and Female identifying high school students. You must realistically be able to portray a high school student to be considered for this project. Experience with viewpoints is a plus. All actors will appear in underwear at the beginning of the play. All roles are open.
Actors 40+ to play male and female identifying older adult roles in the play. Experience with viewpoints is a plus.
Initial audition will take place on Mon August 19 from 2-8pm. Each actor will be given a time slot and the audition will be group/movement based. There is no dancing in this production but physical acting techniques will be utilized. Each audition will be one hour long and you must be available for the entire hour.
Rehearsals will take place week days from 10 am - 6pm beginning Tues Sept. 3rd
First preview Thurs Oct. 10th
Opening Night Thurs Oct. 24th (no performance on Halloween or Thanksgiving)
Production runs Thurs Eve, Sat Eve, and Sun Matinee through Sunday Dec. 29th extension is possible.
