Oddfellows Playhouse Youth Theater in Middletown, CT is offering a full-time Fellowship to a recent graduate (undergrad, grad or career shifter) for the 2018 -19 season at the Playhouse.
The Playhouse is looking for a visionary young teaching artist and emerging leader in the field of educational theater and theater for social change. We are looking for a person driven to use the performing arts to promote social and racial justice, as well as a tool for the development of inter- and intra-personal skills and theater craft and technique. Someone who is open to learning, growing, leading and sharing by playing a central role in the life of a program which has broken down barriers in central Connecticut since 1975.
The Fellow will co-manage the Playhouse’s after-school programs of classes and productions for young people ages 3 – 19; assist in the training, guidance and retention of college-age Teaching Assistants; provide support to teaching artists; communicate with young people and their families; teach classes and assistant direct during the season; and serve as an assistant to the artistic director. Other opportunities to contribute will be dependent on the skills, interests and passions that the Emerging Leader Fellow brings to the table.
Oddfellows Playhouse is a non-profit youth theater, founded in 1975, which promotes the growth of young people in skills, knowledge and self-confidence through the performing arts. It was founded as a community-based, multicultural theater program which would make the performing arts available to all young people, and continues to be driven by a commitment to access and diversity. Oddfellows Playhouse is Connecticut’s oldest and largest theater program for young people.
Persons of color encouraged to apply. Oddfellows is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees, participants and families.
