Female-Identifying Actors for Franca Rame Project

CATEGORY: Performer

L'Atelier Theatre Productions
Brooklyn, NY 11217

Job Details

Seeking bilingual female-identifying actors for a production of Franca Rame and Dario Fo’s “Orgasmo Adulto Escapes from the Zoo”, running at Irondale from April 23 to May 11 as part of the Women on Women Festival.

Written at the height of the second feminist wave in the 70s, the texts are a satirical depiction of the condition of women past and present in the context of institutionalized patriarchy that bring the political resistance and the fight for women’s rights onto the stage. With wit and unabating humor, the texts frontally address pressing women issues, such as sexual politics, financial and psychological dependence, agism, motherhood, abuse, rape, prostitution, abortion, and terrorism. We intend to present the monologues with a diverse collective of women, speaking the texts in five different languages.
