Little Island, a non-profit park and arts organization located in Hudson River Park and slated to open in May 2021, seeks an experienced Finance Associate to join the team. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with 1-3 years’ experience working in a finance-focused position who is  efficient, detail-oriented and excited to work in a non-profit, start-up environment. 

 

Key Responsibilities

·       Bookkeeping across the organization

·       Completing timely organization-wide expense reconciliations, including for check requests, credit card, employee reimbursement and office petty cash

·       Preparing monthly schedules

·       Assisting with the internal month closing process

·       Managing office petty cash- disburse in accordance with office guidelines, verifying documentation and reconciling on a monthly basis

·       Assisting with annual audit as needed

·       Processing and distributing 1099’s

·       Timely and accurate processing of payroll for all full and part-time employees

·       Handling administrative tasks related to the onboarding and termination of employees

·       Maintaining historical records and filing documents 

·       Other projects as needed

 

Desired Qualifications

·       BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration 

·       1-3 years’ experience as a non-profit bookkeeper 

·       Solid understanding of GAAP compliance, accounts payable principles,
and general math 

·       Excellent attention to detail

·       Expert-level skills in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and some experience using proprietary accounting software

·       High level of accountability and discretion

·       Knowledge of Sage Intacct a plus

About Little Island

Little Island is a new public park funded by the Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation, currently under construction in Hudson River Park, and opening in Spring 2021.  Little Island is designed by Heatherwick Studio and MNLA and the design includes a distinctive sculptural structure of 132 unique ‘tulips’ rising above the Hudson River from 15 to 62 feet high, and a lush, seasonal, landscape that features rolling hills, walking paths and open lawns, with dazzling views of NYC.  Little Island has a 700 seat amphitheater, an intimate stage for 200 visitors and an open plaza, all designed to host a range of programming for all ages, from theater, dance, and music to food and beverage experiences to educational programs and community events. Little Island will provide New Yorkers, and its visitors, with a unique urban oasis--a place for experiences that ignite imagination, foster spontaneity and play, and support camaraderie and connection.
