DESCRIPTION

Ogunquit Playhouse, Ogunquit, Maine seeks experienced FIRST HAND, STITCHER, and WARDROBE ASSISTANTS for our 6-production 2019 Mainstage Season. Approximate dates of employment vary per position: April – Fall (Sept/Oct/Nov) 2019.

Salary and housing included.

FIRST HAND:

Ideal Candidate: Must be detail-oriented and remain focused in a fast paced working environment. Excellent cutting and stitching skills are a must.

Job Duties/Expectations include (but are not limited to):

-Work directly with the Assistant Costume Shop Supervisor as directed by the Costume Shop Supervisor

-Assist in the creation and cut fabric based on patterns

-Attend fittings to assist and take notes

-Prepare alterations from fittings

-Assist in shop builds

-Assist load-in/strike as necessary

-Contribute to maintaining a cognitive, communicative, and cohesive shop/team

-Assist with Children’s Theatre

-Must be comfortable and able to lift and carry 50 pounds

Potential Design Opportunities: Design for one of Ogunquit Playhouse's Children's Theater productions.

STITCHER:

Ideal Candidate: Must be detail-oriented and remain focused in a fast paced working environment. Excellent cutting and stitching skills are a must.

Job Duties/Expectations include (but are not limited to):

-Sew, either by machine or hand, costumes assigned by the Assistant Costume Shop Supervisor or First Hand

-Assist load-in/strike as necessary

-Contribute to maintaining a cognitive, communicative, and cohesive shop/team

-Effective time management based on projects and work load

-Assist with Children’s Theatre

-Must be comfortable and able to lift and carry 50 pounds

Potential Design Opportunities: Design for one of Ogunquit Playhouse's Children's Theater productions.

WARDROBE ASSISTANTS:

Ideal Candidate: Must be detail-oriented and remain focused in a fast paced working environment. Wardrobe Run Crew experience required; sewing/stitching skills are encouraged.

Job Duties/Expectations include (but are not limited to):

-Minor costume repairs

-Ensure proper cleaning, organization and delivery of costume pieces

-Assist with backstage quick changes

-Possess flexibility and positive backstage demeanor working with actors and other crew

-Run each performance (8 shows/week)

-Assist in rehearsals and load-in/strike as necessary

-Assist with Children’s Theatre

-Must be comfortable and able to lift and carry 50 pounds
