Detroit Public Theatre seeks a General and Facilities Manager to join the company full time in January or February of 2020. This is a new position with a growing company.

Salary Range: $38,000 - $42,000 with growth projected in the next two years.

Health Benefits offered in August of 2020.

Primary duties are as follows:

Office Management

*Keep the office organized, clean, and well stocked

*Answer phone messages and emails pertaining to general inquiries

*Manage and lead all tasks related to printing, preparing mailings, and other day to day tasks as assigned

*Coordinate gift certificate distribution and redemption

*Maintain press archives

*Coordinate conference room and rehearsal space booking

*Organize food and other supplies for events, tech week, first rehearsal, etc.

Facilities Management

*Develop and manage rentals and rental contracts for theater. This is a new endeavor for the theater and this position will help to create this program.

*Develop a facility rental procedure and sales pitch.

*Secure yearly rentals and meet budget goal


Company Management

*Help plan opening and closing event

*Manage first rehearsal welcome and food

*Coordinate airport pick ups, actor transportation to events and rehearsals

*Plan and pick up tech dinners

*Book, pick up, and drop off all rental cars for out of town artists

*Book all travel for out of town artists

*Arrange and manage housing for all guest artists (schedule apartments, find new properties, and negotiate with landlords)

*During production hours (first rehearsal hospitality: breakfast and coffee, airport pick ups, assist with needs and questions)

*Post production hours (apartment clean up, key return, airport drop offs)


Audition Management

*Compose and submit audition notices to Actors’ Equity Association and

*Communicate with actors in a timely fashion to schedule audition appointments

*Gather and organize audition materials from actors submitting video auditions

Human Resources

*Manage all personnel files

*Make sure all insurance and registrations are annually in order

*Mange health insurance for employees of company

*Create new vendor files

*Manage DPT insurance policies

*Primary contact for all insurance claims, needs and reporting


House Management

*Manage DPT House Manager

*Manage Opening Night Receptions at Theatre

Minimum Qualifications:

*Two to Three years General Management and financials experience

*Must be able to work well independently and to manage, train, and motivate others  

*Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills required  

*Candidate must be able to successfully handle multiple priorities in sometimes high stress situations  

*Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and other Windows applications required  

*Position requires the ability to accommodate a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, as well as being able to perform in a fast paced, dynamic work environment  

*Good problem solving and strategic thinking skills  

*Ability to prioritize, identify critical issues, and work towards results  

*Ability to work with multiple organizations and vendors proactively and professionally

*Strong networking skills
