SYNOPSIS: Havana Music Hall reflects the pulse of the Cuban community with its irresistible musical beat and heartwarming story centering on musicians Rolando and Ramona Calderon, and their lives in Havana, Cuba from 1958 to the present. Just as their band is about to get its big break, the Revolution tears apart the only world the duo has ever known. This moving and relevant new musical explores the challenges and joys of one family’s 50-year odyssey for survival, presenting a journey which immigrants of all cultures from around the world have traveled for generations.

[ROLANDO CALDERON]Male, Cuban, early 20s. Bari-tenor. A passionate nightclub musician who is as talented as he is handsome. A strapping young man with charm and sex appeal. He is a natural leader and very ahead of his time. A Latino Justin Timberlake type. IDEALLY LOOKING FOR ACTORS WHO ARE ALSO MUSICIANS to proficiently play a brass instrument and/or the drums. We are not limited to only actor/musicians; however, it would be preferred. Strong mover is also a plus.

[RAMONA CALDERON]Female, Cuban, early 20s. Soprano with a strong belt. Beautiful, sweet and glamorous. A star on the rise with unquestionable talent. She is fierce and fearless. A young Rita Hayworth type. Strong mover.

[OLD ROLANDO CALDERON/JUANCHO/COLONEL]Male, Cuban, to play 60s to 70s. Baritone. Seeking one strong character actor to play three roles: Old Rolando – a lovely man and a supportive husband. He is a proud owner of the Havana Music Hall. He no longer feels in charge of his life because Castro is now in power. Juancho– the neighborhood guy that everyone knows. Once Castro is in power, he is scared that he will lose everything he has worked so hard for, including his café. Colonel– a dictator and a supporter of Castro. He is Castor’s mouth piece. He wants to strip the locals of their riches and enforce Castro’s power. Arrogant and cold blooded.

[OLD RAMONA CALDERON/DONA] Female, Cuban, to play late 50s to late 60s. Mezzo Soprano. Seeking one strong older actor to play two roles: Old Ramona- A faded beauty yet still feisty and sassy. Confident and determined. She is hopeful that things will change in Cuba. Doña– a neighborhood patron of the Havana Music Hall. She is a die-hard supporter of the Hall and of the Calderon’s. She is matronly, yet elegant and has a great sense of humor. Strong mover.

[YARIEL GONZALEZ/MILICIANO]Male, Afro-Cuban, 18+ to play 16 years old. Baritenor. A street performer – a wannabe JayZ. He is charismatic, confident and cocky. Healways knows just how far he can go and how to pull back just before he gets caught in a sticky situation. Strong rapper (not improvised) and mover.

[MARI CALDERON/DANCER]Female, Latina, early 20s. Mezzo Soprano. She is smart, witty and sweet. She is nobody's fool. Born in the US, she knows there is something that is missing from her life that she yearns to know more about. She goes to Cuba searching to find out who she really is.
