House Manager – Performing Arts Center, University of Illinois Springfield
The department of Performing Arts Services seeks a House Manager who will manage all front-of-house operations and patron service delivery for the UIS Performing Arts Center, including the 2,005-seat Sangamon Auditorium and the 300-seat Studio Theatre. This includes planning for and ensuring patron safety, responding to clients’ event needs, maximizing on-site net revenue streams (concessions and merchandise), and maintaining a high level of guest satisfaction and sense of special occasion at the venue. This individual directs the work of a number of staff as well as the volunteer program of more than 200 donors who serve as volunteer ushers.
UIS is a small public university offering innovative, high-quality liberal arts education, professional programs, and public affairs activities. Performing Arts Services is UIS’ creative team of professional arts presenters, managing both the Sangamon Auditorium and the UIS Studio Theatre, and hosting over 125 public events annually. The House Manager will work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends, driven by the event calendar.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in facilities, public assembly, or other live event management position. Candidates should have two (2) years of experience managing a large team of people, paid and/or volunteer. The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience with safety codes and emergency planning. The successful candidate must possess the ability to communicate effectively, write in a professional manner, and engage in complex decision-making.
The position is a 100% full-time equivalent position with a variable working schedule determined by the event schedule. Salary of $50,000+ annually with exceptional vacation, health and retirement benefits package.
