BREAKDOWN

THERESE DEFARGE - She is a tricoteuse, a tireless worker for the French Revolution, and the wife of Ernest Defarge.

SYDNEY CARTON - Sydney Carton is a central character in Charles Dickens' novel A Tale of Two Cities. He is a shrewd young Englishman and sometime junior to his fellow barrister C.J. Stryver.

DOCTOR MANETTE - He is Lucie's father. a brilliant physician, and spent eighteen years "in secret" as a prisoner in the Bastille prior to the French Revolution.

LUCIE MANETTE - young daughter to Dr. Manette

CHARLES DARNAY - a wealthy gentleman

ERNEST DEFARGE - husband to Therese

MONSIEUR LE MARQUIS/ATTORNEY GENERAL

MISS PROSS - Miss Pross is Lucie Manette's no-nonsense governess and friend.
