Job Details

The Manager of Promotional Operations (“MPO”) will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and operating systems that support the Foundation’s mission-centric interconnections among networks of people, institutions, and information. The Foundation is entering an exciting phase of new strategic promotional approaches, which the MPO will be centrally involved in implementing. Reporting to Director of Strategic Initiatives Ed Harsh, and working closely with the Foundation’s program staff, the MPO will have opportunities for creative and innovative thinking in the founding and growth of a new CRM database, the development of the Foundation’s web capabilities, and the refreshing of the Foundation’s direct mail, email, and social media channels. The MPO will also play a supporting role in the creation of content, both writing prose and editing multi-media.

The members of the Kurt Weill Foundation staff love and care deeply about music and theater. This is an essential quality. To succeed in the MPO position, a candidate must also be an energetic self-starter eager to think and problem-solve independently while also being a dedicated team player. The ability to multi-task with an active awareness of priorities and a close attention to detail is also very important in the Foundation’s committed and fast-paced environment.

Minimum qualifications for the MPO position are: Bachelor’s degree; relevant professional experience (in the performing arts a big plus); ability to read music (past experience as an active music-maker at any level a plus); and mastery of Microsoft Office applications.

Other desirable experience and skills are: database construction and management; mailing / follower list management and development; social media use in an institutional context; web analytics (e.g., Google, Facebook, Twitter); HTML and web development; writing about the performing arts (especially in a promotional setting); sound, video, and photo editing; and knowledge of foreign language (especially German).

Compensation: The MPO is a full-time, non-exempt position. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package will include health, life, dental, and disability insurance; pension plan; paid vacation, and standard holidays.
