Description:

The Merchandise Manager is a full-time position, working both in the West New York, NJ office/warehouse and on road with the national dance convention tours.  Seeking a candidate with proven work experience in brand merchandising or dance apparel.  Responsibilities include planning and development of company branded clothing and merchandise, collaborating with suppliers and distributors to negotiate prices, quantities and time lines. Monitor merch sales (online and POS systems) and maintain accurate inventory, along with sales records and analysis. Replenish merchandise weekly to the tour, based on maintained inventory. With event team, create and execute layout plans for merchandise booth on tour. Serve as the enthusiastic team leader for merch sales staff on the road. May be asked to participate in other event-related functions as needed. Interacts with customers in person, via email and phone to fulfill purchases and orders.   Merchandise manager also orders and maintains inventory for all dance competition awards for all companies/events.  Ideal candidate will work with company and IT team to create a new company brand online merchandise store.

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite – Excel mandatory.  Adobe Suite (Photoshop) or other design skills desired.
  • Enthusiasm and energy for long work hours during events. 
  • Customer service oriented. Outgoing and enjoys interacting with people.
  • Team playing and working independently equally valued. We are a small (but mighty) team that knows our best results are through collaboration.
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying and engaging with target audiences.  Working with marketing to devise campaigns to increase awareness and sales.
  • Up-to-date with the latest merchandising trends and best practices, including POS systems and inventory.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong listening, presentation and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent on-your-feet problem solving skills and a “can-do” attitude.
  • Knowledge/experience in dance and/or the dance convention industry a major plus.

Must love travel – this a road warrior position. (yes…frequent flyer miles!) Job split approx. 3-4 days on the road, 1-2 days in office each week during the tour season, 5 days a week in office off-season. Ability to consistently work weekends during tour, as needed/required by the company.

·     Bachelor’s degree or applicable experience.
