SEEKING
[AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE SINGER/DANCER ENSEMBLE WITH WILLIAM HENRY LANCE U.S]
[20s-40s, male, African American. Seeking dancers who have strong tap along with urban dance skill, i.e., break, stepping, locking, flexing, crumping, etc. A dancing and singing Greek chorus providing all of the background functions of populating our world, conveying through movement and song a clear-eyed if at times cynical grounding in their truth in each dramatic situation as it unfolds. We are seeking dancers with strong vocal and acting skills to complete the ensemble cast of distinct, specific characters. (Note: This track also understudies WILLIAM HENRY LANCE: (African American Man, early 20's), An exceptional dancer & tap dancer. A hot head, fearless and strong-willed to a fault. He was born and bred on a Tennessee plantation. Born a slave, who was free via The Underground Railroad. VOCAL RANGE - HIGH RnB TENOR - NEEDS A STRONG Bb.

BREAKDOWN

NOTE FROM CREATIVE: PARADISE SQUARE takes place in New York City primarily in July of 1863. Seeking a multi-ethnic, multi-racial cast with strong emphasis on the African American, and Irish culture, which is reflected in the historical dance styles required for the show. The choreography is inspired by the spirit and rhythms of each culture and requires the highest standard of technique and athleticism.
