The Assembly, a critically-acclaimed 501(c)3 non-profit collaborative group of theatre-makers based in Brooklyn, NYC seeks a part-time Producing Director to join our ensemble, working in partnership with the five other members of the artistic company: writer/dramaturg Stephen Aubrey, writer/performer Ben Beckley, designer/director Nic Benacerraf, associate producer/performer Emily Caffery and director Jess Chayes.
After a decade of building ten new theatrical works and honing our administrative model, we seek a visionary producer to work with us to expand and diversify sources of revenue, grow and strengthen the Board of Directors, forge new creative partnerships, and continue the smooth day-to-day management of the company. The Producing Director will work closely with this company of strong artist-administrators to develop and implement strategic plans for continued growth.

Fundraising and Development
Create and maintain relationships with individual donors and granting organizations; identify new funder prospects and strategies, keep track of grant deadlines, plan and carry out fundraising and cultivation events.
Non-profit compliance, budget creation and management, personnel and tax document management, contracting, creating and providing financial reports. Participate in strategic company planning activities including weekly company meetings.
Work with the Company and Board to add members and strengthen Board ability to fundraise, work with the Treasurer and Finance Committee on Board oversight of company financials, Board communication, attendance at quarterly Board meetings.
Artistic Project Management and Producing
Contracts and negotiations, maintain relationships with creative partners, seek new opportunities for collaboration, project creation and presentation, plan and execute the company’s artistic projects, including developmental workshops, productions, touring presentations, post-show discussions, the new Deceleration Lab and educational workshops.
The ideal candidate will have:
-A love of theatre or performance and a desire to create work collaboratively.
-Demonstrated success leading fundraising efforts and creating strong donor relationships.
-Project management skills, including production timelines, staffing, budgeting, problem-solving, adapting quickly to new scenarios or developments.
-Ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as within a team, collaboratively.
-Ability to keep track of multiple projects or programs in development, working to different timelines.
-Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills, strong communication skills.
-Software working knowledge: Quickbooks or other accounting software, Microsoft Excel/Google Drive ability.
-2-5 years professional producing or arts administration experience.
