Duties & Responsibilities

Position Summary
Oversees and manages theatrical productions and daily operations related to the Harvard Radcliffe Dramatics Club (HRDC), the Harvard Radcliff Summer Theatre (HRST), and any other undergraduate theatre work for the A.R.T. Reports to the Executive Producer and works closely with each show's Director to develop and execute strategy related to Student productions.

Position Responsibilities


  • Ensures strategy related to student productions is executed on time, within budget and alignment to established artistic standards.

  • Supervises all stages of the production process including scenery construction, load-in, technical rehearsals and strike.

  • Advises students on design and technical theater elements including approval of structural elements and student scenic designs. Oversees inventory, maintenance and equipment.

  • Facilitates the relationships between students, professional staff and key external stakeholders, ensuring needs are being met at all levels.

  • Supervises the operation of technical equipment and organizes and conducts workshops that promote a safe and healthy work environment.

  • Oversees the production budget for HRDC, including purchasing activities and ensuring accurate financial record-keeping.

  • Supervises a small team comprised of regular and contingent staff. Hires staff and conduct annual performance evaluations.

  • Designs shows and assists with special projects as needed.

  • Serves as the point of contact for students to promote awareness and to ensure adherence to Harvard University Health and Safety, Title IX, and Diversity and Inclusion standards.

  • Remain up to date with rehearsal and performance reports for Student productions.

  • Regular follow-up communication with project advancement.



Basic Qualifications

Candidates MUST meet the following basic qualifications in order to be considered for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and three years of related experience. Supervisory experience.


Additional Qualifications

  • Must have demonstrated ability to work with students of all backgrounds.
  • Experience maintaining community standards in a work environment preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, judgment, and discretion are vital.
  • Must have demonstrated capability of working in a high-stress environment.
