DESCRIPTION

Florida Studio Theatre is seeking an Acting Apprentice to perform in multiple Children's Theatre productions including the role of ACTOR 1 in Tomas and the Library Lady by Jose Cruz Gonzalez.

ACTOR 1 (Male, all ethnicities) - Plays TOMAS, a young boy learning English; FLORENCIO, his loving and hard-working father; and PAPA GRANDE, his grandfather who is an exceptional story teller.   Especially interested in actors who are bilingual in Spanish and/or are comfortable with Spanish pronunciation. 

In addition to performing, actors maintain secondary duties at the theatre.    Florida Studio Theatre is a LORT D theatre in Sarasota, Florida. A village of five theatres, FST has grown to serve over 200,000 attendees with over 20 productions each year. Programming is vast and varied including contemporary new plays, musicals, cabarets, children's theatre, and improv. FST's Intern & Apprentice program is an immersive and comprehensive way to bridge the gap between academic theatre and the professional world and to provide additional training and experience to those individuals who are serious about careers as theatre professionals.     

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Have appropriate academic and/or professional experience.
  • Be able to relocate to Sarasota for the length of the internship.
Compensation includes:
  • Weekly stipend of $120
  • Free furnished housing
  • Utilities including cable and internet
  • Complimentary tickets 
  • Discount at FST's Green Room café
