Sister Rosetta Tharpe broke new ground in the world of gospel music. An influence on Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, and Ray Charles, she is considered by many to be the "Godmother of Rock 'n Roll."
This jubilant play with music gives up a fly-on-the-wall seat to the first rehearsal between Rosetta and her protege, Marie Knight, on the eve of the tour that would establish them as one of the most important musical duos in American popular music.
This show is a play with music. Seeking actresses who can also sing and play specific intruments. This show is a co-production with The Hippodrome Theatre in Gainesville, FL. You will close with freeFall on February 16th, and you will begin a put-in rehearsal at The Hippodrome on February 25th and close on March 22nd.
