COMPANY OF FOOLS
Artistic Director: Cameron Clarke
Managing Director: Collin Blackard
Company of Fools, a small but quickly expanding indie theatre company in New York City, is seeking up to three (3) production apprentices to help close out its fall 2019 season! This is a high-intensity, internship-style position that will allow participants to see how a small, independent theatre company is run here in NYC, as well as provide apprentices with the opportunity to work on a production in multiple capacities, including production management, stage management, front of house, costuming, construction, lighting, and other functions. This is a paid position, and our chosen apprentices also receive perks for our 2020 season. For more information, please read on!
ABOUT THE COMPANY:
Company of Fools, now in its third season of presenting visceral, highly focused contemporary theatre in New York City, is an emerging theatre company whose purpose is to innovate the theatre by constantly challenging the limits of our own ability, study, and understanding. To this end, our mantra is thus: "To dare to fail gloriously." Our brand of theatre is one that does not shy away from the difficult or winding road and is always willing to push the absolute edge of what we are capable of doing as artists. We do not limit ourselves to "tried and true" or safe productions, and we know above all else that our desire to push past the fear of failure can lead to unheard-of success. We constantly strive for new works, new techniques, and new perspectives in our pursuit of artistic achievement. Over the past three seasons, CoF has discovered its penchant and admiration for "problematic" works, presenting redemptive and powerful productions of such 20th century classics as Shepard's True West, Shanley's Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, Darlene Craviotto's controversial 1980's play Pizza Man, and coming up next, Amy Herzog's uber-realistic and visceral Belleville.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
We are seeking two to three production apprentices to assist with our upcoming production of Belleville. Belleville will be our largest undertaking as a company so far, and we need eager, proactive, and dedicated team members to help us achieve our dream of presenting a striking and affecting production of this beautiful show.

-Maintaining organization of rehearsal and performance spaces
And what are the perks?
-You will receive a $150 stipend at the end of the Belleville process (and all purchases made for CoF are reimbursable)
-Become part of an exciting, dedicated, and growing family of artists at Company of Fools
-Get involved behind-the-scenes of an independent theatre company in production
-Get priority audition slots (or priority interviews for stipended production/artistic positions) for our 2020 season
