DESCRIPTION

Plato Learning is a Brooklyn-based company that uses live adventure, creativity, and a little bit of magic to engage children in reading and storytelling. We run several mythologically inspired summer camp and afterschool programs aimed at getting kids interested in reading and empowering them to tell their own stories.

 

We are currently seeking an Audio Engineer to help us launch our new Plato Learning podcast. Our podcast, designed for families, will echo our dedication to literacy as action based and engaging. Called The Quest: Adventures in Mythology the podcast takes a wide look at the bountiful subject that is mythology, telling stories from across the globe.

 

Responsibilities:

¨     Follow instructions and details from producers

¨     Record, edit and mix audio tracks (instruments, vocals etc.)

¨     Enhance sound quality and add sound effects to recordings

¨     Create and maintain sound libraries

¨     Resolve technical issues when they arise

 

We need someone goofy, fun, and super creative. If you’ve got experience working in children’s entertainment that’s a bonus!

 

Requirements

¨     Proven experience as sound engineer

¨     Technical expertise in sound engineering techniques (e.g. equalization)

¨     Experience with sound editing and recording equipment (e.g. mixing consoles)

¨     Working knowledge of recording software and hardware (e.g. Pro Tools)

¨     A team player with excellent communication skills

¨     Creativity and attention to detail

¨     Problem-solving abilities

¨     Excellent hearing and manual dexterity

¨     Degree in audio/sound engineering or design or related field is a plus
