Seeking a replacement Stage Manager for Katsura Sunshine’s Rakugo which is currently playing at New World Stages.
Katsura Sunshine’s Rakugo brings the 400-year-old Japanese traditional art of comic storytelling to Off-Broadway audiences for the first time in history. With a minimal set, Rakugo features a lone storyteller who, dressed in a kimono, kneeling on a cushion, using only a fan and a hand towel for props, entertains the audience with a comic monologue followed by traditional stories. This production falls under non-union jurisdiction. The show plays Thursdays and Saturdays at 8pm (no performances on: 10/24; 10/31; 11/7; 11/28). Tickets are on sale through January 4, 2020, with the possibility of extension.
Katsura Sunshine’s Rakugo shares theatre space with another production, so the Stage Manager is responsible for facilitating changeover before and after each performance (along with 2 crew members) and keeping all aspects of the production in order -- calling sound cues; running the light board; keeping track of props / set pieces; performance reports; scheduling; etc.
Ideal candidate has a good understanding of technical theatre; is personable with a great sense of humor; is extremely organized and an excellent collaborator, but also knows when to take charge.
Must be available to start training immediately.
Fee: $100 per performance
