American Thymele Theatre is currently seeking actors with classical training/experience for the New York Euripides Summer Festival production of Suppliants. Rehearsals start July 6, evenings. Runs August 2-12 in select outdoor/indoor stages in Manhattan and Brooklyn including the East River Park Amphitheatre, the Richard Rodgers Amphitheater and the Almira Kennedy Coursey Amphitheatre. Cast breakdown: (International character types of all ethnicities).

 Aethra, mother of Theseus, Female 40-60;

 Theseus, ruler of Athens, Male 25-40;

 Adrastus, ruler of Argos, Male 40-60;

 Theban Herald, Male, 20-30;

 Messenger, Male, 20-30;

 Evadne, a widow, Female, 30-40;

 Iphis, father of Evadne, Male, 40-60;

 Athena, patron-goddess of Athens, Female, 25-50;

 Citizens of Argos (Speaking Roles) Male/Female, 30-60;

 Children (Speaking Roles) Male/Female 6-12, (must be accompanied by an adult at all times);

 Non-speaking Roles: Servants, Guards, Attendants, Priests, Soldiers, Heralds, Male, 18-30;


Carfare stipend provided. A.E.A./non-union performers. Auditions will be held on Thursday, June 14 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 16 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Both days at Ripley-Grier Studios, 520 8th Avenue, between 36th and 37th Streets, N.Y.C.  (Studio 16-I, 16th floor) No appointment necessary. Sides will be provided at the time of the auditions. Sign-up sheet will be posted one half hour prior to each audition date. Bring headshot and attached résumé to the audition. Classical monologues accepted. Must attend audition and be available July 6-August 12, late afternoons/evenings. Complete rehearsal and performance schedule will be posted during audition hours.
