BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) is a multi-disciplinary arts center located in Brooklyn, New York. For more than 150 years, BAM has been the home for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideas—engaging both global and local communities. With world-renowned programming in theater, dance, music, opera, film, and much more, BAM showcases the work of emerging artists and innovative modern masters.

In partnership with the Associate Director of HR, the Training Specialist will develop and execute a varied portfolio of instructionally sound, industry-leading learning programs serving a variety of BAM employees.

  • Responsibilities

    Create a proposal outlining best practices for BAM’s training and development program
  • Design and execute a project management training program 
  • Design and execute internal skill sharing series
  • Applies adult learning theories and instructional design methodology to design learning experiences.  
  • Conceptualizes and designs interactive learning solutions that target learning objectives and improve performance
  • Works with key stakeholders to review capability or curriculum gaps and recommend designs for continuous learning solutions 
  • Facilitate and lead all training events
  • Collaborates with Associate Director of HR in program design
  • Recommends third party content learning solutions to address learning needs and/or skills gaps that support performance improvement  
  • Provide analytics to track efficacy of program  
  • Reviews detailed design with key stakeholders and business subject matter experts as needed  
  • Reviews learning evaluation results and incorporate into future design activities   
  • Keeps abreast and applies new innovations and best practices on learning  
  • Applies content standards for the recommended learning solution   
  • Identifies when standards need to be refreshed or modernized  

  • Minimum Qualifications

    At least 3 years of learning design/development experience  
  • Experience developing education programs using ADDIE, Agile or other instructional design process from start to finish  
  • Project Management experience  
  • Familiarity with current learning management systems and other learning platforms and technologies

    Interest in BAM’s mission and programming 
  • Creativity and forward thinking mindset 
  • Excellent public speaking skills, ability to give presentations that are as engaging as they are informative
