JOB POSTING: Teaching Artist
(Part Time Seasonal Employment)

Education @ Roundabout, through its education initiatives, strives to enhance teaching practice and deepen student learning. We are dedicated to using our resources as a professional theatre to transform the classrooms of New York City schools by creating learning opportunities across all disciplines through the exploration of theatre and by collaborating with teachers and teaching artists to infuse theatrical teaching strategies into their curriculum.

Prospective Teaching Artists should note that the scheduling of work is flexible and varies from a few hours to a few days a week. Teaching Artists are sent to schools to mentor and teach 7th –12th graders, who through the process of replicating the artistic, administrative and technical aspects of a professional theatre company produce their own theatrical productions.

Required Qualifications:

* Professional Theatrical Experience in one or more of the following categories:
Acting, Directing, Playwriting, Set Design, Costume Design, Sound Design, Lighting Design and Stage Management
* Prior Teaching or Teaching Artist Experience (preferably in the NYC public schools)
* Available for Work the 2008-09 School Year (September-June).
* A Commitment to Mandatory Bi-Yearly Training

Preferred Qualifications:

* A Bachelors or Masters Degree
* Ability to speak a language other than English
* Experience with Special Education Populations
