The Beautiful Soup Theater is seeking submissions for the role of David in their upcoming revival of RAGS. Beautiful Soup is a non-union community theatre based in New York City, with a panache for reviving lost works. RAGS chronicles the triumphant journey of Rebecca Hershkowitz as she flees the Russian pogroms for The Golden Land: America.
David (ages 8-14) is the precocious young son of Rebecca, and her pride and joy. It is through his eyes that we embark on this journey, and he serves as our narrator. He must be a strong singer, and an even stronger actor.
Though this is a non-union production, any member of AEA under the age of 14 may still submit.
RAGS will begin rehearsals on April 1st. Rehearsals are located in Midtown at Roy Arias Studios.Rehearsals are typically 3 nights a week, from 7-10pm. We try very hard to release any actors under the age of 16 by 9:15 each night, but can obviously not guarantee this towards the end of the rehearsal period. Performances begin on May 29th at The Connelly Theatre (A 100-seat theatre on East Fourth Street) and run for two weeks.
To submit, please send headshot and resume to beautifulsouptheater@gmail.com. Some slots still remain for Thursday, March 14th's auditions. If you are unable to attend on that date but are still interested, please contact us to set up another audition time.
