Assistant Costume Shop Supervisor

New York Stage and Film (SAF), a non-profit AEA Company which produces its summer season of new plays at the Powerhouse Theater at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, seeks an Assistant Costume Shop Supervisor for the 2013 Powerhouse Season. Season includes 2-3 fully-produced mainstage productions, 2-3 musical workshops, 2-3 play workshops, and 8-10 readings. The Assistant Costume Shop Supervisor helps the Supervisor to oversee all aspects of Department including: constructing/pulling/shopping costumes for all mainstage productions and workshops, taking notes during fittings and techs, care and maintenance of stock, and supervision of wardrobe process, and co-training/management of 3 interns with the Shop Supervisor. Previous management or First Hand experience preferred. Stitching and draping abilities required; some knowledge of make-up, wig, and hair preferred. Salary and housing provided for full-time work from June 9th to August 4th.

World-class artists who have worked with NYSAF include writers Stephen Belber, Eric Bogosian, Marcus Gardley, Beth Henley, Steve Martin, Itamar Moses, Theresa Rebeck, John Patrick Shanley, and Nicky Silver; directors Jo Bonney, Mark Brokaw, Peter DuBois, Barry Edelstein, Michael Greif, Sheryl Kaller, Pam MacKinnon, Joe Mantello, Michael Mayer, Marion McClinton, Lisa Peterson, Roger Rees, Leigh Silverman, Alex Timbers, and Michael Wilson; designers Russell Champa, Jill Du Boff, Beowulf Boritt, Don Holder, Derek McLane, Neil Patel, David Van Tieghem, and Darron West; and actors Chris Cooper, Olympia Dukakis, Mia Farrow, John Gallagher, Jr., Marcia Gay Harden, Greg Kinnear, Lucy Liu, Julianna Margulies, Logan Marshall-Green, Frances McDormand, S. Epatha Merkerson, Rob Morrow, Bill Pullman, Josh Radnor, Reg Rogers, Kyra Sedgwick, Chloë Sevigny, John Slattery, and David Strathairn among many others. New York City-based companies that SAF has supported through residencies during the Powerhouse Program include the 52nd Street Project, Ars Nova, The Classical Theater of Harlem, The Lark Play Development Company, Les Freres Corbusier, Malaparte, Naked Angels, Nerve Theater, Seraphim, Theatreworks, and Voice and Vision.
