Position Title: Assistant Technical Director, Two River Theater Company
Reports to: Technical Director
Status: Seasonal Full Time
Position Summary:
Assist the Technical Director in the timely creation of scenery for each production, including overseeing the build and install of scenery, supervising shop staff and over-hire labor, ensuring a safe working environment by maintaining shop equipment and theater rigging systems, budgeting, and other duties assigned by the Technical Director. Turn designer draftings into technical plates for the scene shop. Work an approximately 40/60 split of time in the office/scene shop. Assist in tracking theater and shop inventory, including masking, scenic equipment, and tools. Assist with purchase of materials. Schedule and supervise maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of equipment. Assist in staffing and directly supervise load-in and strikes of Two River productions and events. Take active role as carpenter, rigger or otherwise as needed during load in, build and strike calls.
Education, Experience, and Essential Abilities:
- MFA in Technical Direction or equivalent experience required.
- Experience in supervising crews with various levels of proficiency.
- Strong technical and mechanical skills, including experience with metal working, MIG welding, rigging, scenic construction techniques and budget management.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Vectorworks is a plus.
- Familiarity with Pneumatic and Automation systems.
Minimum requirements:
- Ability to lift 75 lbs and work at heights in excess of 60 feet.
- Current driver license and experience driving cargo van and up to 20’ box truck.
- Work a 40 hour week with flexibility for weekends and evenings as needed during technical rehearsals.
