Making Books Sing, a 501(c)(3) family theater and arts education organization, is seeking one part-time intern for Spring/Summer 2012. This internship is ideal for emerging arts leaders looking to work in a dynamic, collaborative office while gaining experience in non-profit management.
Making Books Sing promotes children’s literacy and social development through professional theater productions and arts education programs. Originally the educational arm of the Tony Award-winning Vineyard Theatre, Making Books Sing has been an independent organization since 2001, serving over 10,000 students, teachers and parents annually.
Artistic/Development Intern
Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
-Aiding the Associate Artistic Director and artistic team with the preparation and production of our main stage show WANDA'S MONSTER and accompanying evening events, playing April-May 2013 off-Broadway at Theater 3
-Researching possible source material for future Making Books Sing productions
-Coverage of other TYA shows and events in NYC
-Assisting the Development Director with furthering Making Books Sing’s social media presence
-Assisting the Development Director with scheduling meetings with city council members
-Assisting the Development Director with the spring appeal
-Supporting the maintenance and evolution of our website
-Providing administrative support to the office including making copies, running errands, data entry, etc.
-Demonstrating a positive attitude and strong dedication at the office and at Making Books Sing events
Qualifications
-Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, knowledge of PatronManager or other CRM program a plus
-Proactive, detail-oriented, comfortable on the phone, able to work independently
-Upbeat, positive attitude
Unpaid, college credit available. A minimum of two days a week through August 2013. Start by April 15.
