The Williamstown Theatre Festival is seeking a full-time, year-round Artistic Producing Associate. Off season, this position is in our NYC administrative office, but naturally would travel to Williamstown, MA from June through August for our summer season.

The Williamstown Theatre Festival (WTF) is a nationally renowned theatre company located in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts. Producing on the campus of Williams College, WTF brings together Broadway-caliber theater artists together to produce an active season of season professional productions over ten weeks in the summer. In addition, WTF’s backbone is its educational programs for over 150 emerging professionals – interns, apprentices, young directors, designers, actors and managers – who staff and run the Theatre Festival in collaboration with professionals.

The Artistic Producing Associate works closely with the Artistic Director to oversee the artistic activities of the Festival and assists as a producer for certain events and productions. The ideal candidate will have experience both as a producer or manager of theater projects and a background in literary management. The position will oversee the summertime literary staff of two to organize special events and new play readings, as well as serve as dramaturgical staff on WTF productions. In addition, the associate will take on various line-producing responsibilities for 1-2 productions as well as auxiliary workshops. Off-season, the Artistic Producing Associate would manage the literary activities of WTF, overseeing submissions and responses, and attending readings and productions as needed. The Associate will also administer the L. Arnold Weissberger Prize, an annual award given to a new play. The Artistic Producing Associate is also an office manager and provides administrative support to the NYC office. We expect the candidate to be able to work independently and effectively, with great attention to detail as well as maintain a big picture view of priorities. We expect a candidate to show leadership qualities, be personable, to possess great communication skills including excellence in writing. We hope a candidate could understand how to balance artists’ needs while meeting organizational and budgetary requirements. We are a small staff year-round, we rely on each other to come to this organization with a spirit that is both willing and nimble, as well as with a sense of humor.
