Signature Theatre, one of New York’s leading off-Broadway theatres, is seeking a PROPS CARPENTER (Run Crew) to support the production of OLD HATS, created and performed by Bill Irwin and David Shiner. Founded in 1991, Signature Theatre Company exists to honor and celebrate the playwright, producing seven to nine productions annually; and, in 2005 Signature began its groundbreaking Signature Ticket Initiative, providing affordable tickets to all of its productions. Signature recently opened the Pershing Square Signature Center, the Frank Gehry-designed 75,000 square foot Center featuring three theatres, two rehearsal studios, a central, public lobby with a café and bookstore, as well as administrative offices.
This position reports to the Production Stage Manager; and will include some audio/visual duties during show calls.
Responsibilities include:
•Maintaining all props throughout the run of the production (including scenic elements)
•Restocking any prop consumables during the run
•Preparing stage and backstage areas for all technical rehearsals and performances
•Assisting as backstage run crew for all technical rehearsals and performances
•Performing post-show duties, as identified by the production staff, as needed
•Identifying, and helping to arrange, any major work calls (with the Props Master)
Candidates should possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and be able to work independently. A well-rounded props and carpentry background is preferred.
