The Lake Dillon Theatre Company is accepting applications for a Summer Youth Educational Director for its 2013 Summer Youth Theatre Workshops.
The Summer YTW consists of four sessions: 2 one-week intensives and 2 two-week sessions culminating in student performances.
Arrival: June 12 - Departure: August 5
Contract length: 7.5 weeks
Compensation: $450 - $650 weekly
Housing Provided, Travel Stipend available
Workshop dates:
SESSION ONE (June 17 - June 22) Monday through Friday. 9am-3pm. Performance on June 22 of THE GLEE PROJECT. Ages 7-13. Musical revue, one-week intensive.
SESSION TWO (June 24 – June 29) Monday through Friday. 9am-3pm. Performance on July 29 of DISNEY’S HEROES & VILLAINS. Ages 7-13. Musical revue, one-week intensive.
SESSION THREE (July 8 – July 20) Monday through Friday. 9am-3pm. Performance on July 20 of SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK, JR. Ages 7-13. Musical, two-week workshop.
SESSION FOUR (July 22 – August 3) Monday through Friday. 9am-3pm. Performance on Aug. 3 of THE LITTLE MERMAID, JR. Ages 7-13. Musical, two-week session.
REQUIREMENTS:
•Experience working with children ages 7-14 in a theatre-oriented environment.
•Production experience in children’s theatre and directing children’s educational programming
•Ability to supervise a staff of educational workshop staff members and delegate production responsibilities
•The State of Colorado requires a background check for any position that works with youth in an educational environment
• Must be able to lift 50lbs, climb ladders and stairs, stand for extended periods of time
RESPONSIBILITES:
• Coordinating various production aspects for a children’s theatre production featuring youth actors.
• Supervising all youth workshop activities and productions
• Communicating with artistic staff, workshop staff, and parents regarding production needs and scheduling.
• Directing each workshop’s productions and overseeing setup/implementation of design and technical elements with production staff
• With other workshop staff, supervise facilities use and setup/breakdown daily of workshop items (sets, equipment, properties, costumes, etc.)
• Ensuring implementation of rehearsals and educational curriculum into a cohesive workshop/intensive environment.

OTHER INFORMATION:
• The workshop venue is an outdoor amphitheatre with covered stage. Inclement weather can inhibit outdoor activities. All staff and students are required to wear sunblock and ensure proper hydration for extended outdoor exposure.
• Proper scheduling of facilities use is paramount. Workshop check-in, check-out, setup/breakdown MUST take place within the given time parameters of the facilities use. Storage is available onsite for large set pieces and other equipment.
