Goodspeed's Dance Intensive is designed as a musical theatre dance boot camp for college age performers and young professionals. The distinguished faculty will cover numerous disciplines of dance with a musical theatre focus. Each day will include sessions focused on preparing dancers for musical theatre auditions and the week will culminate with several mock auditions in front of industry professionals.Goodspeed’s Musical Theatre Dance Intensive will provide dancers with the full set of skills necessary to land a spot in an ensemble. Our campus will be filled with young artists learning to build their Broadway-style repertoire with instruction in tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, and audition techniques for the musical stage. If you can’t help but move to the rhythms of Broadway and you want to be cast in musicals, this is the workshop for you!

BALLET FOR MUSICAL THEATRE: Warm up with ballet classes and improve your technique!
JAZZ FOR MUSICAL THEATRE: Each day a different style of theater dance will be taught by one of NYC's "Best in the Business." Enjoy feedback and tips from professional instructors on auditioning for that particular style. The program will include classic, contemporary, Fosse, Randy Skinner’s movie musical style, and much more.
TAP FOR MUSICAL THEATRE: Learn from the best! These classes will not just be for the advanced tap dancer. Students will be separated and challenged according to level. Participants with a range of experience will receive the attention they need to enhance their musical theatre career.
MUSICAL THEATRE REPERTORY: Learn choreography from Broadway shows both past and present. These classes may also include singing and staging. No two days will be the same!
SPECIALTY CLASS: Work on your special skills in these classes such as Ballroom, Latin, Hip Hop, Bollywood, etc.
AUTHENTIC NEW YORK AUDITION: The Musical Theatre Dance Intensive week is designed to prepare you for this ultimate audition experience. On Saturday, you will audition for a Broadway musical of our choosing. Held in true form, exactly as you would encounter in New York, a creative team consisting of a casting director, producer, director, choreographer, and musical director will take you through the paces! You will also receive personal feedback to be sent to you via email. Learn “who got cast and why” – a rare and invaluable lesson on how things are done in the business.

Dana Moore is a 30 year veteran of the Broadway stage. She was last seen on Broadway playing Hunyak (“Not Guilty”) in Chicago. She was also featured in Fosse (now on DVD), which chronicled choreographer/director Bob Fosse’s work from stage, film and television. Other outstanding Broadway credits include, A Chorus Line, Sweet Charity, Bob Fosse’s Dancin’, On Your Toes, The Will Rogers Follies, How to Succeed…., Singin’ in the Rain, Dangerous Games, Sugar Babies and Copperfield. She has toured with Chicago and Falsettos and appeared in the films, The Producers: The Movie Musical and Woody Allen’s Everyone Says I Love You. In New York City, Dana teaches Theatre Dance at STEPS on Broadway and is a musical theater faculty member at Marymount Manhattan College. She conducts master classes in cities across the USA and internationally, recently working as teacher and choreographer for the International Dance Intensive in Cyprus, Bardar Dance Institute in Oslo, Tapage Dance Company in Toulouse and the Jazz Musical Theatre Program at Jacob’s Pillow in Massachusetts. Ms. Moore is also a founding company member of Chet Walker’s WalkerDance Company. Dana has starred as Liliane La Fleur in the critically acclaimedproduction of NINE at the Westchester Broadway Theatre and performed in the New York workshop of Queen of the Stardust Ballroom starring Tyne Daley. Also, she set her own choreography to music composed by Caleb Hawley and ChristinE Pollack for the musicians and dancers collaborative, GIG.
Matthew Powell received his training at the School of American Ballet, the official school of New York City Ballet. He performed professionally with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, the San Francisco Opera, and danced principal and soloist roles in more than 50 works by choreographers such as George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Paul Taylor, Merce Cunningham, Twyla Tharp, Lynne Taylor-Corbett and Michael Smuin. Additionally, Mr. Powell has danced in regional productions of Fiddler on the Roof (choreographed by Lisa Stevens), All Shook Up (choreographed by Richard, Hinds), and portrayed “A-rab” in the international tour of West Side Story. As a teacher, Mr. Powell is a faculty member at Broadway Dance Center, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, and has guest/substitute taught at Marymount Manhattan, Billy Elliot on Broadway, and Ballet Academy East. Additionally, he was a faculty member at the Rock School for Dance Education and Kansas City Ballet School and has taught classes at institutions such as the Universities of Iowa and Alabama and company class for Kansas City Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and the West Side Story International Tour. His choreography received a fellowship from the New York Choreographic Institute, and he has choreographed works for Kansas City Ballet, Regional Dance America, and most recently. He also has worked as Assistant Director to Dorothy Danner for the Lyric Opera of Kansas City’s production of Pirates of Penzance and for Michigan Opera Theatre’s production of The Magic Flute. Upcoming projects include choreographing a new ad campaign for BLOCH dancewear, featuring principal dancers from American Ballet Theatre, and this summer Matthew will be dancing in Fire and Grace, which will be filmed in Los Angeles for DVD release.
Noah Racey is a New York based performer, director, choreographer, and educator. Broadway: 2001 revival of Follies; original casts of Thoroughly Modern Millie (Associate Choreographer), Never Gonna Dance, and Curtains. At New York’s Town Hall: 10 years resident choreographer/director with Broadway By The Year series, Brooklyn To Hollywood starring Tovah Feldshuh, 2008 Nightlife Awards, World Premiere of All Singin, All Dancin. Noah was Associate Director for Jeff Calhoun’s High School Musical, High School Musical 2 (Fox, Atlanta), and Shenandoah (Ford’s Theatre DC, starring Scott Bakula). He choreographed the 2008-2009 White Christmas National Tour (directed by Jeff Calhoun), 5th Avenue Theatre’s Cinderella and Guys and Dolls, as well as Goodspeed Musical’s Show Boat and Annie Get Your Gun, both of which won Connecticut Critics Circle Awards for Outstanding Choreography. Noah choreographed the Broadway-bound (in 2013) World Premiere of It Shoulda Been You (George Street Playhouse, directed by David Hyde Pierce, starring Tyne Daly), and the World Premiere of Turn Of The Century (Chicago’s Goodman Theatre, directed by Tommy Tune, starring Jeff Daniels and Rachel York). Also in 2013, Noah will star in Noah Racey’s Pulse at Asolo Rep, (directed by Jeff Calhoun). He is the founder and Artistic Director of the internationally acclaimed New York Song & Dance Company, appearing on “So You Think You Can Dance” and in Noah Racey’s Pulse this season. Noah is a Boston Conservatory graduate and a proud product of—and strong proponent for—arts funding in public schools.
Jon Rua most recently originated the role of ‘Jesus Pena’ in the world premier of the new musical Hands on a Hardbody at La Jolla Playhouse created by Doug Wright, Trey Anastasio (Phish), and Amanda Green. He has starred as ‘Sonny’ in the Tony Award Winning Broadway musical In The Heights. Jon has performed with the likes of Sean Hayes, Jane Krakowski, Anthony Anderson, Keith Carradine, Norbert Leo Butz, Tyne Daly, Andrea Martin, Priscilla Lopez, Jordin Sparks and more. Additional theatre credits include: Somewhere at The Old Globe (Craig Noel Leading Actor Nomination), Bring It On-The Musical (World Premier), Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity (Second Stage-Pulitzer Prize nominated), Damn Yankees (Encores!). Workshops: Hands on a Hard Body(La Jolla), Sundance Theatre Lab (Banff 2011), Pan, Bare, Queen of the Stardust Ballroom, All Fall Down (Intar), Kingdom (Public Theatre), Lincoln Center’s American Songbook. TV: “Law and Order”. Jon has danced for such artists as Don Omar, Soulja Boy, and more as well as Commercial credits including Target, BillBoard, Puma, and Panasonic. As a choreographer, his work has been seen on NBA/NCAA Dance Teams, CBS, MTV, Broadway Bares, Award-Winning Webisode "Chaos Theory" and “Union Square”. He has assisted on such projects: Bring It On-The Musical, In The Heights, NYCC’s ENCORES! The Wiz, and Insanity. Jon has over 8 years of experience teaching internationally. Randy Skinner is an award-winning director, choreographer, and performer whose work has been seen on Broadway, National, and International tours, and at Regional theatres. He received Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics, and Astaire nominations for his choreography for 42nd Street. He also choreographed the opening number for the 2001 Tony Awards television broadcast. Other shows include Ain't Broadway Grand (Tony, Outer Critics nominations); Irving Berlin's White Christmas (Tony, Drama Desk nominations); State Fair (Outer Critics nomination); After the Night and the Music (MTC/Biltmore Theatre); Do Re Mi; Of Thee I Sing; Face The Music; No, No, Nanette and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (the last five at City Center Encores!); Gotta Dance! (City Center); Happy Days (Los Angeles); Stormy Weather with Leslie Uggams (Pasadena Playhouse); An American in Paris (Alley Theatre); Abby's Song (City Center); Puttin' On The Ritz (Kennedy Center); On The 5th (Takarazuka Revue Company, Japan); Lucky In The Rain; George M!; Babes In Arms (all three at Goodspeed Opera House); Hello, Dolly!; Strike Up The Band; Pal Joey; and Lone Star Love (Lucille Lortel nomination). Among Mr. Skinner's performances are roles in A Chorus Line, Gypsy, Dames At Sea, Hello, Dolly!, Pal Joey, Once More With Feeling, High Spirits, Walking Happy, and Babes In Arms, directed by the legendary Ginger Rogers. His "taps" can be heard on the recordings Lucky In The Rain, Sondheim At The Movies, 110 In The Shade, and Strike Up The Band. He most recently choreographed the West End production of Lend Me A Tenor The Musical. Mr. Skinner is a graduate of Ohio State University and he regularly teaches master classes throughout the country at universities and festivals.
