IDENTITY THEATER NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FOR ITS THIRD READING SERIES: SELF-DISCOVERY

FOR 3 CONSECUTIVE SUNDAY AND MONDAY EVENINGS IN JUNE, 2013


Identity Theater, Where Individuality Comes to PLAY is an innovative ground-breaking company, dedicated to exploring the complexities of the human condition. We are accepting submissions for new plays.


We are looking for original works that focus on characters who undergo a self-discovery. The works can be of any length. Submissions are open to all.


We especially want to work with artists, playwrights an directors who are differently-abled in any way looking to discover the ability in disability. By eliminating the borders between the disabled and able-bodied world, we endeavor to create new perceptions and open people's minds and hearts to our cause.


As always, there is no fee to submit. If selected, the playwright will be asked to provide a $40 fee to reserve their spot. This fee can be refunded by the number of tickets they sell for their show. Identity will offer a 70/30 split with the playwright for everyone they bring. Tickets will be sold at $10.

The guidelines for the reading are loose as to allow the playwright the opportunity to determine the best use of their time in the series. It can be as simple or as complicated as the playwright thinks is the most useful for them in their developmental process. Note: Their will be very limited technical capabilities and Identity will do its best to accommodate the playwrights requests. Each playwright is responsible for choosing their own creative team and promoting their show. Identity Theater Co. will do its best to support and promote each playwright.

As Identity Theater Co. strives to create community, we strongly ask that the playwright and his/her guests stay for the entire evening as to support each other. We will have time for audience feedback as well as time to mingle with other artists at the end of each night. Also, the playwright MUST be able to attend on the night of their reading

The reading series will span 3 weeks in June on Sun and Mon nights.The exact dates are June 2,3,9,10,16 and 17. The reading will be performed at the American Theater of Actors at 314 W 54th St., Beekman Theater.

To submit email idcreadingseries@aol.com Attn: Self-Discovery. Please include a brief synopsis of the play and a bio of the playwright. Attach the play to the email. The deadline for submissions is May 1st and selected playwrights will be notified no later than May 15, 2013
